Your relatives can live, study and work in Canada if they become permanent residents of Canada. You can sponsor certain relatives to come to Canada if you’re at least 18 years old and a:

  • Canadian citizen or
  • Person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act or
  • Permanent resident of Canada

The People You Sponsor Must Also Be Eligible

To show they meet the eligibility requirements, your parents and grandparents and their dependents must provide:

  • All required forms and documents with their application
  • Any additional information that the IRCC requests during processing, including:
    • Medical exams
    • Police certificates
    • Biometrics

From 2019 onwards, IRCC has revised the random in-take cycle and replaced with a first come first serve basis by allowing the prospective Sponsors to lodge an Interest to Sponsor Form.

Only the applicant’s invited to apply after submission of interest to sponsor form can proceed towards the more detailed documentation and concerned information for further processing of applications.
